Before you wax:
1. Make sure you are not on any skin thinners, such as vitamin A products or prescription acne medication.
2. Don’t get a sun burn before coming in.
3. Allow hair to grow out for at least 2 weeks (no tweezing or shaving). A ½ inch of hair growth is perfect.
4. Book your appointment. This way you can start planning to let your hair grow out by your appointment date.
Things to remember:
1. We all have hair!
2. Everyone's hair is different! Waxing results will vary for everyone. Consult your esthetician for a recommended rebooking schedule.
3. Everyone has different pain tolerances- even from body part to body part.
4. No question is wrong. Please don't hesitate to ask us anything and we will answer to the best of our ability!
5. If you are having a service done where you disrobe, we will always leave the room while you change.
6. You may feel sticky after the appointment. The product we use is water soluble and can be removed from the skin with soap and water. We will do our very best to make sure you aren't leaving with excess product on your skin. Applying a lotion at home will also help remove any residue.
7. At home wax is very different then the professional product we use.
8. If your hair is very long don’t trim it too short before you come! If the hair is too short wax will not attach to it and it will be left. When in doubt don’t trim, we can discuss hair length at your appointment if you are still unsure.
9. When planning to wax larger body parts, please exfoliate the skin prior to your appointment.
10. We will apply a post waxing lotion to the skin to help calm the area after waxing.
Reasons for hair excess hair growth:
Excess hair growth can be caused by hormonal shifts, genetics, medications, thyroid conditions and some disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome. We are certain about one thing, changes in hair growth can start at any time, for many reasons!
Polished Waxing Service Dictionary:
Brow Shaping- Our brow shaping will frame your eyes, open up your lid space and even out your facial features. If you regularly tweeze you will want to stop tweezing for at least a week to allow hair to grow back in. We will start by asking you how you like your brows, develop a plan together and then get started. You will be asked to lay down on the facial bed. We use a loop lamp to help us see all the small fine hairs, then a brow comb to help us see if there are any long brow hairs that need to be trimmed. Wax is applied to the middle, lower, and upper parts of the brow. If any hairs are left we will tweeze them out. Rebooking time: between 2-6 weeks
Upper lip- You will be asked to lay down on the facial bed. Wax is applied on one side of the lip then the other. Rebooking time: between 2-4 weeks
Chin- A chin wax includes the chin, down the neck and jawline. You will be asked to lay down on the facial bed, wax will be applied to the chin/jawline based on each individual's needs. It's common to have stubborn hairs that are left behind, these will be tweezed out. Rebooking time: between 2-4 weeks
Underarm- Before your underarm wax, you will be asked to change your top and lay down on the facial bed. Each underarm will be done separately. You will be asked to place one hand behind your head and the other hand just below your underarm to help pull the skin tight. Wait at least an hour or two before applying deodorant. During an underarm wax it's best to wear a tank top. If you don’t have one we will provide you with a wrap to cover over your bra. Rebooking time: between 2-6 weeks
Arm wax- During an arm wax, we will have you sit on the facial bed. Hair will be removed in multiple pulls. Your arms will be moved in different positions to help removal all hair. During an arm wax, it is best to wear a tank top. If you don’t have one we will provide a wrap for you. Includes both arms. Rebooking time: between 2-6 weeks
Bikini Line- This service includes the removal of all hair along the outside of your underwear or bathing suit line. You will be asked to change and lay down on the facial bed where a towel is provided to cover you. We remove hair from one side at a time and you will be asked to make a "figure four" ( bringing the inside of your foot up to your knee on the side we are working on then switch for the other side) position is required for easier hair removal. On occasion we will ask you to place your hand on your skin to help pull the area tight for easier removal. Making sure you have let your hair grow out is very important for this service you will be left with hair. Tweezing can be painful in this area to remove any short hairs. Its important to remember to exfoliate the area as the hair starts to grow back in to remove dead skin and help aid the hair in coming up and not becoming ingrown.You can choose to wear your underwear or a pair of disposable panties we can provide. Rebooking time: between 4-6 weeks
Brazilian Bikini- A Brazilian wax includes the removal of all of the the hair from the vagina including your back side. A "landing strip" can be left in the front but some clients choose to have everything removed. You will be asked to change and lay on the facial bed. Before your service begins, a towel is provided to cover you as much as possible during the waxing as well as a hygienic wipe. We remove hair from one side at a time and you will be asked to make a "figure four" (bringing the inside of your foot up to your knee on the side we are working on then switch for the other side) and may ask you to place your hand on your skin to help pull the area tight for easier hair removal. For removal of the hair from your back side you may be asked to lay on your side. Rebooking time: between 4-6 weeks
½ Legs- A ½ leg wax includes the area on your legs from the top of the foot to the knee. We will have you lay on the facial bed and bend the legs so your foot is flat on the bed. We do as much as we can with you laying face up then may have to have you lie face down to remove the hair on the back of your calf. Make sure you wear a pair of shorts or pants that can roll up over the knee. Includes both legs. Rebooking time: between 4-6 weeks
Full legs- A full legs wax includes all of the hair growth from the top of the foot to the top of the thigh. You will be asked to change and lay on the facial bed and a towel will be provided to keep you covered. We start at the foot and move our way up on each side. Sometimes a "figure four" ( bringing the inside of your foot up to your knee on the side we are working on then switch for the other side) position with your legs is required is used to help remove the upper leg hair. You will start sitting and then have to lie face down to remove the hair from the back of your calf and back of your thighs. Includes both legs. Rebooking time: between 4-8 weeks
